The park centers around a deep, forested basalt canyon. The main attraction is the Trail of Ten Falls, a stunning route that winds along the canyon floor and rim. The trail takes you past a series of spectacular waterfalls, ranging from delicate, cascading streams to roaring plunges.
The highlight of the park is the trail design itself: the path is carved directly into the cavernous basalt amphitheaters behind four of the falls—most notably the 177-foot South Falls and the 136-foot North Falls. Walking behind the roaring water, feeling the cool mist, and looking out through the curtain of the falls into the green forest is an incredible experience.
