Background Information
Originally founded in 2007 as ASIA-PDX (Association of Senior Indian Americans – Portland, OR), the organization has been run by an all-volunteer leadership, promoting and conducting activities for seniors of Indian origin in the Portland metro area.
In August 2020, to provide expanded resources, Oregon Venture Advancement Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit, acquired the ASIA-PDX activities and renamed it the Association of Seniors of Indian Origin (ASIO).
ASIO continues to be operated by an all-volunteer leadership with a vision to expand connectivity and engagement among seniors in the community to the next level, utilizing digital tools. Under its new charter, ASIO aims to augment its resources through affordable membership fees.

The association has organized various activities, including:
- Regular meetings in the Bethany / Beaverton areas
- Special events with invited speakers on topics of interest
- Summer picnics
- Group games and laughter exercise sessions
- Domestic and international travels to tourist attractions
