Dear Friends, As 2025 draws to a close, we take a moment to reflect on a year enriched by progress, engagement, and shared experiences. The Association of Seniors of Indian Origin (ASIO) Board sincerely thanks our members and community for their continued trust and support. Your presence has played a vital role in making this year memorable

Food Drive in November:

Thanks to all members who brought food items to donate. All the items were donated (About 200 pounds) to the Oregon Food Bank.

Topic1: Understanding Physical Therapy Speakers: Kevin Isitani and Amy Shepro Tanous Physical Therapists at Therapeutic Associates Join us for an informative talk covering:
  • Fall prevention strategies
  • Helpful exercises and tips
  • What physical therapy is and how it can benefit your health
Topic2: Silk, the Queen of Textiles Speaker: Dr. Ramakant Upadhyay India is the second largest producer of silk in the world. Join us and learn a little bit about this beautiful fabric. Tea and snacks provided by ASIO.    2026 Membership
While membership is optional, it plays a vital role in keeping our events free, ensuring broader accessibility for seniors.

  • $40 per person
  • $70 per couple

2025 Highlights

This year has been filled with moments that brought our community closer together and propelled us forward. Let’s revisit some standout highlights:
    • Elder Safe Program with Washington County Sheriff’s office – Elder Abuse | Washington County, OR.
    • Floral arrangement class by Anila Shah.

    • Meeting with Portland City Councilor, Sameer Kanal
    • Washington County’s Sherriff’s Office provided safety tips for the seniors.
    • Take Better Photos by Sunil Kulkarni. 
    • Talks by Dr. Meenakshi on Depression.
    • Talk by Dr. Poothullil on the Role of Protein Supplements on Healthy Living.
    • Zumba class lead by the founder of Step with Purpose, LLC, Preeti Mani.
    • Community movie screening of “Fiddler on the Roof
    • Summer Picnic in June, July and August to Cape Lookout State Park, Rood Bridge Park and Cook Park.

ASIO Inter-generational Book Club

We will discuss “Rough Sleepers” by Tracy Kidder on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 11 AM to noon. Please note that this is also the book chosen by “One Book One Beaverton” event sponsored by Beaverton City Library. There will be opportunities to join other book discussions around the town and to meet the author in the month of Jan – Feb. ASIO Hiking Group
